    Why do people unleash a virus that they know will bring computers to their knees. Because they can.

    I think that the CC License is a great thing and I think that it should be used more often. My only concern is that you can swing to far on either side.

    Same with malware. Viruses and trojans are written these days to build up botnets that are then rented out to spammers or for denial-of-service attacks on competitor's websites.

    These days the redistribution of pirated films and writing of viruses for spam and similar is big business and (usually) in the hands of organised crime.
